WHY STUDY COMPUTER SCIENCE?

The Bachelor of Computer Science is an innovating alternative to students, which aim to pursue a professional career in the forefront of technological innovations and satisfying the principles of sustainability. The course has as its objective, to offer a learning environment, which enables the growth of students without previous Computing experience, and at the same time, challenge the ones familiar with the subject. Briefly, the course is intended to educate professionals capable of working into fields, which demand the elaboration of algorithms and systems regarding specific needs of diverse fields, especially those concerning sustainability.

WHAT IS THE PROFILE OF THE BCC GRADUATED STUDENT?

The BCC graduated students must have a set of knowledge and abilities, making them capable of assuming roles on different fields related to Computer Science or connected areas. The graduated student must present theoretical knowledge, practical skills, maturity, posture and adapting capacity to work on computational solutions of problems from different fields of the society.

Therefore, we expect the graduated student to have capacity to work in the labor market as professional of business of Computing or business requiring computing solutions for their products and services. Furthermore, the graduated student must possess abilities, which qualify them to develop an academic career, as professor or researcher, through the continuance of their formation on postgraduate courses, lato sensu and strictu sensu.

Given its appliance range, the Computer Science is part of the daily lives of the most diverse society segments, thereinafter transforming every aspect of our life, facilitating the development of other fields, as Medicine, Biology, Chemistry and Social Sciences. Thus, the labor market of Computing has roughly expanded since 1990, tending to maintain such pace on current times, given the need of human resources in the field. Without overstatements, we may assert that the Computing will be primordial in the future revolutions of businesses, Science, environment, industry and society.
